Jet Tec inks and ozone testing

Jet Tec inks are engineered to produce long-lasting prints of exceptional quality. Customized ink formulations ensure that Jet Tec cartridges perform at a consistently high level whilst maximising the life of the printer itself.

Quality:

With respect to quality, customers choosing Jet Tec cartridges can expect perfect print performance from the moment the cartridges are installed, and stunning print results across a diverse range of papers and coated print media.

The inks used in Jet Tec cartridges are formulated and tested in DCI’s custom-built ink laboratories, where ink ingredients, dyes and additives are analysed and stored in an extensive ink database.

The use of high quality, light resistant dyes ensures that prints made with Jet Tec inks produce the desired levels of light-fastness for photo prints that are stored according to the recommendations of the printer manufacturers.

Pigmented vs. dye-based inks:

In order to provide our customers with the best print results and all-round product satisfaction, Jet Tec recently made the decision to discontinue the use of pigments in its ink formulations, switching instead to lightfast dyes.

To maintain the high standards of quality for which the Jet Tec brand is known throughout the industry, we continually monitor the performance of our inks against other products on the market, both pigmented and dye-based. Recent comparison tests of this nature confirmed that Jet Tec’s dye-based inks deliver superior results in terms of colour match, image quality, fade-resistance and light-fastness, and are compatible across a wide range of papers.

Jet Tec’s high quality dye-based inks produce bright and vibrant prints with an excellent colour spectrum. The inks have fast drying times and prints are water-resistant depending on the glossy coated media used, making them ideally suited for photo printing.

Filled with expertly formulated dye-based ink, Jet Tec cartridges start up without the risk of banding or dropping of colours, and perform at a consistently high level from the beginning to the end of the cartridge life.

Dye-based inks do not dry up in the printer or in the nozzles of the print head, so consumers do not have to carry out repeated cleaning cycles that waste ink and shorten the life of the printer.

Since making the change from pigmented to dye-based ink the number of printers returned to Jet Tec for servicing has been negligible. Hence, customers using Jet Tec dye-based cartridges benefit from ink technology that not only maximises the print life of each cartridge but also ensures the longevity of the printer itself.

Tests for ozone fading:

Some testing agencies carry out tests to measure the degree of fading when ink jet printouts are exposed to high concentrations of ozone.

Jet Tec engineers approached the LGA, a highly respected independent German testing agency to discuss this matter with them.

The LGA informed Jet Tec that ozone tests are not part of the DIN Standard 33871, since ozone concentration levels in closed rooms, where ink jet printouts tend to be kept are very low.

The Head of the LGA’s Information Technology Test Centre explained, “Ozone is very unstable and therefore the concentration in rooms exists only for a short time and printouts from ink jet printers are typically kept indoors”.
